Will TripAdvisor Be Your Best Friend as You Re-open?

Rate us on Trip Advisor may not be your best friend as you move forward with re opening…… 

​The competition is on to be self sufficient in earning your merits from your guests. 

Personally, as a guests coming to your hotel, I don’t care if you are SHA Plus certified. There should be certain protocols in place for COVID that protect the guests and staff at all times. 


Here is what I do care about :




​When I visit your hotel I want good safety systems in place. Good food and hygiene. Clean, well maintained rooms with no odours. No noisy AC. Friendly staff and excellent customer service. So ……Are you ready ? 


Recently I visited a 5 star resort in Thailand. 
The service was dreadful, and the once excellent cuisine was that of a 3 star. The chef of 5 years had found another job. 
Do they want my review on TA ? 

In another two examples, I stayed overnight in two rooms, in separate hotels- the bathrooms were dirty and moldy in one and the smell of damp coming from the AC unit in another was overpowering - For sure the mask came in handy.

I am, however delighted to share a wonderful experience in Chiang Mai, in a delightful boutique hotel. The cost was above my budget and definitely more than the shabby dirty place I had just left. But it was worth every baht spent.

From the moment I arrived the service was excellent. Well organized, professional and friendly staff. 
Despite only booking the day before, a beautiful handwritten personal welcome note was waiting for me alongside a nice fruit basket when I entered my room.
The staff if I would like to use the swimming pool, and it so what time wold I like as they needed to book a slot for me to use to avoid too many people around the pool.  


Do they want my review on TA ? Absolutely 

So what standards are you bringing back ? 

What is your New Normal ? Will your guests be happy to rate you on Trip Advisor ?

Focus on whats important to your guests, and bringing back excellent hospitality standards that guests expect


There is still time to get it right, and gain that excellence award from Trip Advisor.
