Slips, Trips and Falls

Picture
Believe it or not, this is one of the most common accidents in Occupational Health and Safety.
This can happen to staff or guests at anytime, if any hazardous areas are not identified and eliminated.
As with all risk assessing, it is essential to  include your HOD's when walking around. Ask also for feedback of any ares they have already identified within their working environment. Then take action to eliminate

Here are some common areas to check in your property:
 - Uneven surfaces
 - Surfaces which are slippery when wet
 - Loose floor boards
 - Concrete steps chipped on the edges
-  Exstention wires not taped securely to a solid base. (Particularly in conference rooms or other work areas)
 - Unprotected drops to different levels more than 60CM
 - Are your balconies protected by a 1 meter high barrier ?
 - Fitness locker rooms tiles that are slippery when wet.
 - Poor night lighting around the resort externally and internally.
 - Are staff issued with and  wearing correct PPE, clothing and non slip footwear for their role ?

Walk around everywhere, and see just how many areas you find. You are now on your way to making a safer property for your staff and guests.
